Tottenham and United Eye Jarque and Kameni

Spanish Football Transfer Rumours

Aside from wondering what on earth Valencia's Hildebrand was doing 'passing' the ball to Espanyol's Luis Garcia, the assembled press in montjuic were busy speculating as to who the representatives of Tottenham and Manchester United were at the game to see.

Some insisted that it must have been Carlos Kameni, with the Espanyol keeper's agent also seen at the match. Others insisted that Spurs were there keeping an eye on Dani Jarque who's injury prevented a move to London taking place in January.

However, one lone scribbler who had made his way up from Valencia was adamant that both Premiership clubs were keen on David Villa.

Who says we don't like to gossip? It's not as if we've anything better to be doing.

Spanish football: News and rumour roundup

Ronaldo stays: Capello has a use for Guti: Woodgate, Gravesen and Baptista could be off whilst Joaquin makes his way to Valencia.

It appears that Milan have decided not to pursue their interest in Ronaldo at Real Madrid after failing to agree a fee for the Brazilian after the Spanish club demanded 30 million euros for the player. Milan are reported to have focused upon Ricardo Oliveira of Real Betis as an alternative and hope to secure the player for around 15 million euros. Oliveira already has one foot out of the door in Seville after going ‘missing’ for the entire pre-season.

Meanwhile, Fabio Capello has attempted to silence the critics on Guti’s behalf, claiming that “If I can’t find a use for him then I’ll just have to make something up”.
Real Madrid fans have demonstrated just how patient they are prepared to be with the new manager after whistling the team off the pitch at the Bernabeu on Wednesday evening and many continue to demand “Where’s Kaka?”
