There is a danger that Osasuna are underestimating their opponents Rangers in tonight’s Uefa cup tie. The Spanish press and even some of the Osasuna players seem more preoccupied with the fact that the match is being played in the same stadium as the final is due to be played, than they are the opposition.

After a 0-2 defeat to Getafe in their opening game, Osasuna now face a visit to the Nou Camp to play the Champions, Barcelona. Both sides are desperate to improve upon their start to the season with Osasuna looking for their first point whilst Barcelona will be seeking a more convincing defensive display than in their last match. In spite of their 2-3 win at Celta Vigo, Barcelona received plenty of criticism in the Spanish press and the champions are looking less than invincible at the moment.

A collective sigh of relief was heard emanating from the Mestalla last night as Valencia fans finally had something to celebrate. Last night’s victory sends the club through to the Champions league proper after a years absence and is a welcome relief from the infighting and bickering along with the endless frustrations in the transfer market that have characterised the last few weeks.
