Spanish Football Transfer Rumours
Tottenham Hotspur are thought to be amongst a number of clubs interested in Esteban Granero after the midfielder's agent claimed that the London club had made contact in the Summer....
The attacking midfielder has been earning a lot of praise for his La Liga and UEFA Cup performances whilst on loan at Getafe from Real Madrid this season.
Granero, nicknamed 'The Pirate', had been unable to consolidate a first team place at Real Madrid and it was decided by the club that he should gain valuable experience playing top flight football elsewhere. La Liga Review understands that Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster is now convinced that the player is deserving of a place in the Real Madrid squad and has instructed his sporting Director to ensure that Granero returns to the club in June to prepare him for a role in the side next season.
Granero's representative, Teo Lazaro, has revealed that the player's performances at Getafe have alerted a number of European clubs to the player's abilities.
However, the Agent has said that " We have spoken, but I have not spoken to the Tottenham director lately," before adding, "The boy is calm and is concentrating on developing as a player and at the end of the season we will speak to Real Madrid about the future before we decide anything"
It is understood that a return to Real Madrid would be the player's first choice, but with competition for his playing position in the side considerably fierce, a move to another club may hold some appeal.
