Javier Clemente will be presented as the new coach of Real Murcia at a press conference this afternoon. The 57 year old former Bilbao, Atletico, Espanyol and Spanish national coach has just 12 games to save his new club from relegation...
Murcia are currently 6 points away from 17th place and Primera Liga safety.
Clemente's appointment came about after a bizarre series of events yesterday saw former Murcia coach Lucas Alvaraz deny rumours of his sacking in the morning, only to be told by the club President in the afternoon that he had, in fact, been dismissed after all.
Murcia President Jesus Samper said that "Javier Clemente is our new coach because he has the ability, the knowledge and the talent to keep us up".
Clemente, in his Marca column today writes "I am joining Murcia to work hard and save the team. There are 12 games remaining and we will give our all to keep Murcia in the Primera Liga".
The hards work starts on Sunday when Celemente's Murcia host a confident Getafe at the Nuevo Condomina.
