According to Spanish press reports, Arsenal have been watching Elche's goalkeeper Willy Caballero, whilst Chelsea are keen on 15 year old Marc Muniesa of Barcelona...
According to Barcelona based newspaper SPORT, Barcelona’s Marc Muniesa has not agreed a deal to sign for Chelsea despite reports in England.
The 15-year-old Centre half is very highly rated by his coaches at Barcelona’s youth set up, known as La Masia, and the club are desperate to avoid a repeat of another ‘Fabregas ‘or ‘Merida’. With the youngster turning 16 this March, Barça have been seeking reassurances from the player’s representative and his family that he will not be lured away to the premiership before he can legally sign a contract with the Catalan club.
Thankfully for Barça, Muniesa's agent Gines Carvajal insists that nothing has been agreed with Chelsea.
The agent said "This is only a rumour because no one from Chelsea has presented us with a formal offer.”
Interestingly, the young defender is partnered at the heart of defence in the hugely successful Spanish national under 16 side by Ignasi Miquel, the Cornella player thought to be on the brink of joining Arsenal.
Speaking of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger is thought to be showing an interest in Argentine goalkeeper Willy Caballero who plays for Elche. The 26-year-old stopper, who has Spanish nationality, has been called into the full Argentina squad - but has yet to earn his first cap.
It has been reported in the Spanish press that Arsenal’s scouts took the chance to check out the keeper whilst checking on the progression of midfielder Fran Merida - who is on loan at Sociedad for the remainder of this season - when his side faced Elche at the weekend.
Elche's directors have confirmed that they have not received any offers for Caballero - who is also being watched by Real Zaragoza, Real Mallorca and Deportivo La Coruna.
Caballero’s buy-out clause is set at £4.5million and his current contract has 18 months remaining.
