Getafe, playing their first season in the UEFA Cup, host AEK Athens in Madrid this evening after earning a 1-1 draw in Greece last week. Life could have been much easier for Laudrup had Getafe not conceded a late equalizer in the first leg, but Ruben De La Reds 84th minute goal at least gives Getafe a valuable away goal...
Getafe Coach Michael Laudrup will be without Jaime Gavilan, who is still unavailable after suffering concussion following a clash of heads with AEK defender Rodolfo Arruabarrena in the first leg. The player spent the night in a Greek hospital and said afterwards “"I'm lucky to be alive. I would rather not watch the replay of the accident on television. I now see life from a different perspective."
Esteban Granero returns to the side after being suspended for the first leg, while Juan Angel Albin, Pablo Hernandez and Braulio are all one yellow card away from missing the next round.
The aggregate winners will meet the victors of the tie between SL Benfica and 1. FC Nürnberg in the Round of 16 on 6 and 12/13 March, playing the first leg at home.
