Depor will be hoping to stake a claim on a place in the Copa Del Rey final when they face Sevilla at home tonight in the first leg of the semi finals.
The Galicians will need to make good use of their home advantage given that they face one of the strongest sides in La Liga who have been boosted by the return of top goalscorer Freddie Kanoute. The Malian forward has recovered from the injury he picked up in the UEFA cup win against Tottenham. Unsurprisingly, the Andalucian side are the bookmakers favourites to reach the final.
Depor have only ever reached the final of this competition twice in their entire history and it comes as a surprise that Caparrós has left Estoyanoff and Riki out of his squad. The former Sevilla coach has also elected to rest two of his most creative players, Iago and Verdu. Arizmendi and Cristian make a return to the side after recovering from injury.
Juande Ramos, on the other hand, clearly values the possibility of picking up some siverware, even if it is in this undervalued cup competition, and is set to line up with as strong a side as possible in A Coruña. Hinkel will miss out through suspension whilst Puerta is still recovering from the ankle injury picked up against Valencia last Sunday.
Juande Ramos is not comfortable with his side´s status as favourites however, and insisted "The plaudits that Sevilla are receiving at the moment mean that the bearskin has been sold before its even been hunted. We must be focused".
