Barcelona 3 - Celta 1
Javier Saviola, Ronaldinho and substitute Ludovic Giuly scored the goals that gave the champions a deserved 3-1 victory. Barcelona stay one point clear of Sevilla. Although far short of their mesmerising best, Barça looked to have regained some of their intensity and movement, managing to keep the home fans happy, for now anyway.
Nené scored from the spot for Celta midway through the second half, but it was too little too late to prevent a fourth straight Primera Liga defeat.
Levante 2 Sevilla 4
Sevilla’s tantalising victory over lowly Levante at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia sees them looking good value in second place. Fredi Kanoute put the visitors ahead before Alexander Kerzhakov and a Damiano Tommasi own goal consolidated their advantage. However home side rallied through Frederic Dehu and Gustavo Reggi. Alejandro Alfaro secured the win for the Andalucians.
Betis 2 - Valencia 1
Two goals from Robert helped Real Betis move out of the Primera Liga relegation zone and brought Valencia's impressive run of six straight wins to an end.
David Villa had given Valencia an early lead only for Robert to equalise shortly after, and the Brazilian finished off a match winning performance by converting a penalty midway through the second half to seal all three points.
Gimnàstic 4 - Espanyol 0
Bottom club Gimnàstic produced the shock of the weekend, thrashing Catalan rivals Espanyol at Nou Estadi. Javier Portillo opened the scoring and the former Real Madrid striker also earned his side a penalty, by Jesus Lacruz, which was converted by Alejandro Campano.
Antonio Pinilla made it 3-0 and then Cesar headed home a Campano corner to give the home side bragging rights over their rivals from Barcelona
Mallorca 2 - Recreativo 1
First-half goals from Sergio Ballesteros and Jose Carlos Nunes ensured that 10-man Mallorca edged past Recreativo Huelva at the ONO Estadi.
Daniel Guiza’s first half brace was enough to see Getafe ease past Osasuna at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, stretching their unbeaten run to six games.
Real Sociedad 0 - Athletic Bilbao 2
Andoni Iraola helped Athletic Bilbao heap more misery upon relegation bound Basque rivals Real Sociedad at the Anoeta. Now six points from safety, things are not looking good for Sociedad after this, their third consecutive defeat.
Zaragoza 1 - Deportivo 1
Diego Milito's 79th-minute penalty gave Real Zaragoza a share of the points against struggling Deportivo La Coruna. Sebastian Taborda gave the visitors a shock lead in the 21st minute, but 11 minutes from time Taborda then hacked down Sergio Garcia inside the box and Milito salvaged the point.
Villarreal 1 - Real Madrid 0
Marcos' single goal was enough to see Villarreal defeat Real Madrid
Atletico Madrid 1 - Racing Santander 1
