Ruud Van Nistelrooy grabbed all the goals as Real Madrid beat Osasuna this evening. La Liga Review was lucky enough to have a few words with the Dutch Striker after the match.
The Dutchman said "“Two years ago I scored four goals in a Champions league match against Sparta Prague but that was a one off. We had four or five shots at goal and everything went in. I believe that we all played really well, we worked hard and kept applying pressure. Everything just fell for me, that doesn’t always happen, it was incredible. We could easily have had five goals because one was given offside and I don’t believe that it was”
The former Manchester United forward compared the game with Osasuna to a premiership match in terms of its pace and intensity.
“It was very similar to a game in England. Osasuna played with real aggression and at a high tempo but we held strong and it was a good result for us"
It would seem that Van Nistelrooy is taking his manager's words to heart. He is even starting to sound like Capello; " However, its only three points and we have to do it again next week. The thing is, we must keep on winning and play like this week on week. We must work hard. We lost to Celta and we were gutted. We must win against Racing next weekend”
