Ronaldo stays: Capello has a use for Guti: Woodgate, Gravesen and Baptista could be off whilst Joaquin makes his way to Valencia.
It appears that Milan have decided not to pursue their interest in Ronaldo at Real Madrid after failing to agree a fee for the Brazilian after the Spanish club demanded 30 million euros for the player. Milan are reported to have focused upon Ricardo Oliveira of Real Betis as an alternative and hope to secure the player for around 15 million euros. Oliveira already has one foot out of the door in Seville after going ‘missing’ for the entire pre-season.
Meanwhile, Fabio Capello has attempted to silence the critics on Guti’s behalf, claiming that “If I can’t find a use for him then I’ll just have to make something up”.
Real Madrid fans have demonstrated just how patient they are prepared to be with the new manager after whistling the team off the pitch at the Bernabeu on Wednesday evening and many continue to demand “Where’s Kaka?”
Gravesen is said to be very close to leaving the club and there are rumours of Baptista being the focus of a bid from Tottenham. Jonathon Woodgate could also be a bout to leave the Bernabeu on loan with Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Liverpool and Arsenal all being linked as a possible destination for the defender. Chivu has been identified as his replacement at Real.
Quique Sanchez Flores has assured anxious Valencia fans that 25 million euros worth of Joaquin is coming but that the most expensive player in the clubs history will not arrive in time for the opening match of the season. The Ayala row rumbles on and Villarreal are said to be making a final push to sign the player from Valencia, saving the Argentine the inconvenience of having to move home.
Atletico are said to have increased their bid for Reyes and met Arsenal’s demands whilst Maniche could still join the Colchoneros on Sunday according to AS.
Mallorca’s new signing Jankovic from Red star has clearly been a keen student of the Ramon Calderon school of ‘winning friends’ and has told his new fans on the island that “I hope to be playing for a big club within two years”.
